The Cry of the Motherland is a large-scale historical action drama series developed by New Stars Production, dedicated to telling meaningful stories that connect history, humanity, and global audiences.

Set during the Japanese occupation of Korea and the Korean War, the series explores a defining period in which courage, sacrifice, and conscience shaped the future of a nation. Through cinematic scale, powerful performances, and emotionally driven storytelling, the project brings audiences into the moral and emotional reality of those times.

The series is based on authentic historical documents and verified political records that were overlooked, suppressed, or deliberately excluded from official historical narratives. By revealing these hidden truths, the story creates space for reflection, understanding, and dialogue—without judgment, but with honesty and depth.

Following the journeys of its main characters, audiences will experience not only major historical events but also the human spirit behind them—fear and hope, loss and resilience, division and unity. This is a series where history becomes personal, emotional, and alive.

This large-scale project is deeply personal. While grounded in extensive historical research, The Cry of the Motherland is also inspired by my own family history. My ancestors were involved in Korea’s political struggles during the Japanese occupation and the years surrounding the Korean War, participating at the heart of national decision-making.

For many years, these stories remained hidden or unheard. This series is my commitment to honoring those voices and transforming documented history into a human narrative of identity, memory, and reconciliation.
